Hello! My name is Luqman Adi Prasatya Hamaki, but people usually call me Luqman (LOOK-mawn) or Luq.
I was born in New York, just a few months before my family and I moved to Hong Kong. We lived there for four years and then relocated to Jakarta, where I spent much of my childhood. In 2005, we returned to New York, and I stayed there for more than a decade while family members gradually migrated home to Jakarta throughout the years. In 2018, it was my turn to go back to Jakarta. I have been here ever since.
Fun fact: even though I am pursuing a career in the creative industry now, I actually graduated from CUNY Hunter College with a degree in Biology! After multiple journeys of "eat, pray, and love," I discovered my passion in project management and storytelling.
For two years and two months, I worked for Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, as a managing editorial assistant. I was also an active member of the community by joining non-profit organizations, such as Indonesian Students Association in New York (PERMIAS NY), Young to Publishing Group Cares, and Indonesian Film Forum New York among others.
Now, I am giving myself a shot at growing my career in Jakarta while attempting to complete the Magister Management program at Prasetiya Mulya University.
In my free time, I enjoy reading and writing. Science fiction and fantasy have always been my favorite go to reads, but I occasionally delve into art essays and weird horror. In recent years, I have taken a liking to biking and travelling.
